When I mentioned to Cruzin that 1 of my set was longer than the others he blocked me. No outcome otherwise. I think this is/was his S.O.P. for any negativity or disagreements.

I think this is/was his S.O.P. for any negativity or disagreements.I ordered carb insulator/intake boots from another online retailer and found that each boot was ever so slightly longer than the one before it, i.e. 4>3>2>1 by about 1/16" each so that #4 was indeed about 1/4" longer than #1. The carb rack was at an angle and was able to measure the 1/4" difference between 1 and 4. Even with new airbox boots (soft and pliable and Honda brand) I still had to oval out the airbox mounting bracket on the #4 side to be able to mount the stock airbox.
Which bike was this for, Wilbur?
Quote from: HondaMan on August 02, 2025, 06:31:37 PMWhich bike was this for, Wilbur?CB750K8. It was either Vintage CB750 or CB750.com IIRC. They seem to be holding up OK other than the variations in length. At less than $100 per set of four they could be considered a maintenance item and replaced periodically, especially since the K7/K8/F2/F3 are NLA from Honda I did manage to find a couple Honda originals #1 and #3 for these later models from JTMarks ebay store, but the #2 and #4 Honda originals are nowhere to be found. I did find these for $50 per set of four:https://www.ebay.com/itm/195332648492I have not had a chance to check fitment, but for $50 I think I can make them work!
There is anecdotal reports that the 1 and 3 boots can be flipped for the 4 and 2 positions. I ordered two 1's and two 3's from jtmarks so I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I verified it also works for stock K7 boots the last time this subject came up.
Just got a 750K4 to love on for someone: it needs new hoses, too.
dont think I've ever heard of the "INTAKE SET INSULATOR" called hoses?

I bought a set of 4:1 boots early into awakening my K2. Did not "know" at the time about 4:1. They lasted a year and then one split all the way around on a ride, it was a good thing I made it home. Noticed bike running weird and then picked up on that split. From then on I call them "4 into 5" intake isolators LOL because they are likely to split. Got NOS Honda ones from JT Marks. Bill

BillThat's what happened to a set on a bike that came to me for 'repair' (fouling plugs a lot) about 3 years ago. One of the hoses was split about 160 degrees on the underside almost like a slice. It took me a while to find it: I'd never seen that before. Then I noticed they have Chinko lettering on them, but didn't know they were coming from 4into1 at the time. I also got a set from JTMarks for that one. Were your JTMarks OEM ones old enough hoses that the old hose clamps still fit them snugly? The modern ones are about 2mm smaller diameter (thickness is different) and the OEM clamps don't seal well. I had to make some brass strips to fill in the grooves about 320 degrees around, then slipped the OEM clamps over them to make it seal. The owner didn't want the Oetiker solution (because the clamps are ugly, despite working perfectly).

They are a HUGE upgrade as long as you do not tighten them more than snug.

And if you don't have a Vetter with Lowers, they aren't pretty, either. But they sure work good!
Could anyone post a size or part number for the Oetiker clamps? I used those daily at work in the early 90s and they were never a failure point.
