Looks like the Honda badges could use a bit of a touch up, as do mine. A little paintbrush and some model paint would do the trick.

 ;D Ah but I wasnt planning on putting the Napoleons on THIS bike....more for the K4 that I have (shown here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=33215.0). The grips on this bike are solid, sealed at the end and the mirror I have at the moment (just the one) works very well.

I had to laugh at the talight comment! I know, I know, yours is soooooo much better and smoother looking than mine  ;) Perhaps someday Ill copy your design. But you see my seat doesnt really flow the way yours does. Anyway I need somewhere to tie the horses/or boat/or practice my lasso technique on  ;) ;D ;D

Anyway Im nominating your bike for BOTM - whereas mine is some cheap garage knock-off (which was the intention) yours is a pro-job! Smooth and sleek.

...my bike rides very well at speed and in the corners...fun, fun!  ;) and if I change the seat to stock and go 2-up it still rides well.

I will say, the factory taillight bracket and seat made cargo hauling very easy.  I just thought you were aiming for one to get the groceries, and one to get the ladies  ;).  I suppose you can do both on either.

This weekend took the cafe bike for a trip to Maine to Owls Head Vintage Motorcycle show. On Saturday left Boston at 8am and spent most of the time on I-95 at 75 - 80mph dodging the unmarked police cars which were out in force. Then at Augusta, ME took a right hand turn and along Rt 3 to Belfast, ME and finally up Rt 1 to Bar Harbor arriving at 1pm and 290 miles later. Then after lunch it was a 45 min ride to Winter Harbor where I was staying and a short ride out to Schoodic point - see photos below.

Sunday it was back to Boston via Owls Head and Rt followed by a blast down I-95 a couple of times getting to 100 mph (but very briefly). End of the day I totalled 660 miles over the 2 days. Highway cruising was easy due to forward leaning position so no wind resistance. Seat comfort was gone after the first 220 miles on the day 1 and 200 miles on day 2 so not too bad. Leg cramps more of an issue but thats because I have long legs (36` inseam). No weight on wrists so no problems there. Bike performed well and rode fast.

Nice photos, nice looking bike.

That shoreline looks a lot like the sand stone, rocky shores here ;D

I have 2 sets of similar grips for the Tracy, #1 pair to ruin figuring how to put bar end mirrors on and #2 set for final assembly 8)

I was given a free K2 engine with an 810cc kit so I thought it would be an easy swap into my K2...how wrong I was...this is the free engine:



6 of the 8 rocker arms were scored, cam was scored...valves were all shot...



But pistons were good  ;D





So I decided to replace only the top end of my existing K2 engine since the bottom end had been completely gone through already. New rebuilt head (currently getting built) and yesterday prepped and painted the 810cc block:







ready to paint..



warming the paint..











Next will be installing the pistons with the spiral loxs....

Your motor will be what the CB750 should have been in the first place. Sweet.

Ouch on the condition of that engine.  At least the price was right and you're getting something out of it.  Isn't the masking a pain, especially around areas like the sleeves on the bottom of the cylinders?  I like your idea of using the plastic wrap.  It should save some time.  By the way, update 6/4/2010?

That's the truth on the masking. It was a "10 for 1" for me. 10 hours of agonizing, procrastinating for every 1 hour of actually doing it. Once i got to it, it was pretty easy, with low adhseive masking tape and a razor.

The plastic is a good idea agreed.

MikeR showed me a trick with the masking which I thought was great...the plastic hammer!



Mask with blue tape as shown then use the plastic hammer to hammer on the edges -this allows the tape to be torn off almost perfectly at the edge - ingenious! Use a surgical scalpel + blade to trim any extra parts. The food bags over the cylinders is a real time saver - here is Ben (azuredesign) not using that method (he didnt know as we were painting my block at the time) - see the difference...

That's the way "real" mechanics make (used to make) gaskets. A set of gasket hammers used to be standard in the toolbox.
