Not drinking that much! ;)
A few Mojito's/Tom Collins and some beers before lunch, red wine/ beers to lunch, same procedure after lunch and finally something to dinner and a few Blue Ladies/Mojito's to round up the evening.

Soon back to garage and ethanol free life. :(

Another thing if Terry should be here too!! Then drinking as bikers should do!!

Bike meet and camping is fun with some drinking together with friends and new friendly people.

Long time ago that happened but it was really good.

Thought I'd post a little more on the 'drinking thing' here..mainly as an FYI to all of us guys (doesn't affect gals so much..a hormone thing apparently)..and over 50 mainly..

Just recently was diagnosed with Gout..but have had it apparently for several years (on and off). A lot of my buddies have had "bouts with gout" also..and mainly younger than me..in their late 40's to late 50's.

As with most of you..I love my beer(s) @ the end of day..or just hanging after a ride. Thought nothing of quaffing a few..for years..with little more than a mild buzz.  The other thing I previously thought about Gout was that it came from eating too much rich protein..like organ meats..red meat in general.  So..I've tended to stay away from the 'offal' for years now (but enjoy it now and then).  Boy was I mistaken in my beliefs (and I have studied biology/physiology..etc.)

It seems that beer is one of the biggest instigators (and I do mean instigator..if you've ever been through a Gout attack).  All boils down to purines in food..which varies..but is really high in any yeast products (distilled products not so much..but still problematic..which I'll get to).  Purines raise uric acid levels in the blood..which if not excreted well by the kidney's..accumulates..causes uric acid crystals to accumulate in the joints..especially lower extremities..like the toes and feet.
that causes inflammatory response (a form of arthritis actually)..which takes days..if not weeks to clear out.

Drinking alcohol of any sort..causes the kidney's to excrete alcohol..rather than uric acid..which can contribute to the problem.
That's what happened in my case.  Thought that by cutting down on my beloved steaks..roasts and ribs..etc..then drinking light beer..that would do it. NOT. So..I'm alcohol-free for a while..until my blood UA levels decrease significantly.  I'm also eating a lot less meat..more veges (have always tended to be a meat & potatoes guy)..which is probably best anyway..given I'm in my 70's nowadays.

Didn't want to bum anyone here..but felt I'd explain this process to the rest of you with whom I share similar tastes and preferences..so that hopefully none have to go through that process of "discovery" LOL  Gout BTW..according to statistics..occurs in about 40% of male population..increasing with age.  You don't want to experience it..if you can avoid it. I got most of my info off the Interweb BTW.

So..please carry-on PeWee..et al. I still enjoy reading about some of the food & drink eaten on rides..etc.

Be well..

I'm back home to my garage from the sunny Greece so not much drinking mode enhancer.
Gasoline fumes is the thing now ;)
A glass or two of an expensive full bodied red wine to a good beef season is soon here. Thinking about what next to do with the bikes or celebrate a successful job. :) :)

PCH and Seal Beach Blvd. is the first light. If he'd taken a right at the liquor store he could come by the house and said hi.

Perfectly legal in California, cops do it too.
think it looks scary ? wait till you visit there, and ride with folks from there., you have to do 40 to 45 mph to keep up, lose them and you are lost.  at least people wont try to door you, they will get the full brunt of the law come down on them.

If I couldn't lane-share here I don't know that I'd bother riding.

Al, you don't have to avoid beer! Take a daily allopurinol and enjoy your beer and increase your "other" fluid intake ie water. Life ain't right sometime since beer is mostly water.

A bit overloaded perhaps, but what are the options.

Here's the 550K4 taking a rest on the way back to Boston from Brattleboro VT on Saturday. I saw this sweet covered bridge so I had to go through it. Now that I see the sign it appears that I owe the great state of NH $10.  ;)

The 200 mile R/T (mostly on Rte 119) was very pleasant. The 550 ran great and it shocked me that I got 60+ mpg on this and another recent longish ride. I guess those cold-blooded PD carbs do all right once you get the durn'd thing started.

Looks like we've got another great stretch of weather so I'm going to get some more country rides in. May even play hooky one day this week! Any Boston area folks up for a ride in the next few weeks PM me.

Fourustry great photo and ride! I was in NH myself this weekend up at Lincoln for the Scottish Highland Show then staying over at Haverhill, NH. The Warren road out of Warren NH is a good scenic ride though a little bumpy. Riding down from Haverhill NH, Rt 10 or Rt12a are great roads with lots of covered bridges. I can also recommend Acworth as a very good destination (good country store) as the road to get there is very good (Rt 113).

Thanks for the route tips, Andy. Your pics make me itchy to ride, as usual. I'll probably save those roads for next year's riding season when I plan to do some multi-day trips. This year was all about refreshing my riding skills, getting my son started, and getting comfortable that the 550 wouldn't strand me far from home. All in all, it has been a success -- I still love the rides and the 550 has been great although I'm thinking about getting something a little more powerful for longer/highway riding. Not ready for another major restoration project this winter -- just planning some mild upgrades to the 550 -- but a CB750 might be in my future.
