I'm really interested in heading out with the group from Minneapolis. I just need a couple weeks prior notice to be able to get the time off from work.

Hello to Accolay............Five or more other riders in the Twin Cities and more to come from the VJMC group.  I will post names in each state in a few days since one or so is joining each day.  The route looks like LaCrosse (DB22 & Rust58) to Twin Cities and then south and west with a new rider in the DesMoines area to get to Splitt, Ryani, and bord0080 near Omaha.......then more or less straight north to Winnepeg.

Suggestion..........Twin Cities riders should get together for a plan and appearance schedule.........looks like arrival in early August.

Riders, please post your logs here:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=85509.0

Be as detailed or brief as you like, but please share any eventful moments of your ride, interesting people you may have met, what you liked the most, etc. Don't need lots of pictures, maybe one of the handoff or maybe a group shot of the riders you were with for however far you were able to ride. You don't necessarily have to be the one that carried the baton, but you do have to have already ridden in order to post there.

Please reserve that thread for RIDER LOGS ONLY. Comments to the riders logs there would stretch that thread out to be quite large long before the relay nears completion. By keeping that thread limited to RIDER LOGS ONLY should help improve readability for many of our forum members. I have renamed the "Godzilla Sightings in Daytona!" to "Godzilla Sightings in Daytona AND BEYOND". Please continue to use that thread for posting comments, quick updates, creative pictures of Godzilla, expanding upon the unfolding story of Godzilla's adventures, (almost) anything goes in that thread. Please reserve the Rider Log thread for factual reports and rider's insights only. Our forum moderator will be deleting comments from the Rider Log thread to help promote it's linear progression as our Relay moves forward.

Enjoy the ride guys, Godzilla's comin your way!

Aaronrkelly.........sounds like a good Irish Pub........welcome to the group.  So it looks like the route will go from the Twin Cities down toward you and on to the west to meet with Splitt near Omaha.  Great, we think Don R from Illinois will cover the Davenport area.

Im not really sure how this works....but from Davenport down to Hwy 34...then headed west...goes right past my house.  It would take a bit longer to get to Omaha this way vs I80......but it would be more relaxed riding and Im sure itd be more enjoyable.

Im assuming once I start Im responsible for the route.....as long as I give the next person I reasonably approx arrival time?

aaronrkelly...........The ride is currently scheduled from St Louis up to Davenport and then to Chicago in late May. In July the ride will be heading west from Eastern Canada, through Michigan, and entering Wisconsin from the UP. I don't have a final route because of more riders and events showing up. It looks like the Wisconsin route will go from the UP down to Milwaukee, west to Madison, then to LaCrosse and up to the Twin Cities. Several riders in Minnesota will have to organize their route to get down to meet you for a handoff to get towards Omaha. There is a possible rider from somewhere near Spencer/Ft Dodge (contact John VanDam near Fargo) that would connect with Splitt and others planning to ride north from Omaha to Winnepeg.

If you can get more riders to join you it would be great! Escorts need not be on a sohc/4. Yes, the goal of the ride is to make the handoffs by contacting other riders on sohc/4 Hondas....and have fun! Most routes are on local roads and this is not a race.

Omaha reporting in.  My sohc/4 will be in attendance, providing she isn't grumpy that day... I have a few gents that would love to ride along as well I'm sure.

My normal rides through the countryside are within about 100 mile radius of Omaha, but I'm more than willing cover more if needed.  Good scenic byway riding, Loess Hills, is close and an excellent addition to the route if possible.

GREAT!!!!.............You take the roads you like best. We just need to hook you up with Iowa and some other riders going north.  Look around on this page for the signup list and register with Jerry Rxman.

Now it would be cool to have the Saskatchewan riders hook up with someone going to Sturgis or the Black Hills.......and on to the Little Big Horns and the Bear Tooth highway............anyone???

Or is the ride going to take IT into Montana for a tour of the Going to the Sun Road?

Good Morning DrWatsonII.............Welcome to this not so little event!  You apparently know Chester345 and will soon get to know a few other sohc/4 riders.....Timing and the exact route are in development. The plan is to north to Winnepeg from Omaha.

I concur, the ride up through the loess hills in Iowa is a wonderful route. We could ride the loess hills to Sioux City. The next step could be to take hwy. 12 up to Akron, Iowa. Cross over into South Dakota on hwy. 48, then take hwy. 11 into Sioux Falls.

Progress for me is looking good right now, I plan to have my cb750 bobber completed by the end of May. That will give me plenty of time for shake down runs to work out the bugs.

Suggestion..........Twin Cities riders should get together for a plan and appearance schedule.........looks like arrival in early August.

I'll second that.  Since Beddies Bikes and Buns is all closed up, where and when would be a good spot for us to get together and hammer out a plan??

Hey, I'm not sure what has been figured out yet, but I have a CB550 and live in Jamestown, ND. I could ride anywhere in the state to help with the Relay, just wanted to put that out there!

ckramlic in Jamestown, ND.......WELCOME!  Does the wind ever stop blowing in Jamestown?  Last time I was in town (gas stop) was in '99.  The ride is generally moving north from Omaha to Winnepeg.  Nearest rider to you is John Van Dam in Fargo. Stay tuned for developments.

Other riders - not a problem.  My girlfriend rides so I for sure wont be alone.....and I may have 2 or 3 more.  I understand the "mascot" stays on the SOHC.....no problem there.

I will just hang loose for the "more final" plans.  Luckily I work night shift.....and its easy for me to get a day switched around....so I dont need much if any notice.

Looking forward to the fun.

Hello group Its April and its time to start checking the bikes and getting the ride plans together..........which means I have a lot of work to do! My trusty K3 has a valve problem..........but not to worry.  My spare K1 motor is going in the frame tonight so I should be riding by Wednesday..............sunny and 60 degrees..........70 by next weekend.

I have not confirmed anything with Ken at Cycle-X but the plan is on.........just need to see some firm dates.

Minnesota riders..........I have not seen a plan develop...........maybe we need a local group leader for the twin cities.

Our Canadian riders look to have a good ride plan other than getting back to the US..........we need to get into the western Dakotas or eastern Montana and could use a rider or five in that area.

Good for you Acolay.............you have your priorities in the correct alignment.............

Yes, we have time to organize but the ride looks to be on schedule and the weather is warming. Just remember, its not a race so take in some scenery and events.  Also remember the rally point at Cycle-X just south of Minoqua on Hwy 51, and the luncheon and bike inspection planned at Two Brothers Honda in LaCrosse.  If the dates shape up and the weather is right, we should have other rally points such as Road America, the FONZ statue in Milwaukee, and many others.

Invitation............The AMA superbike races are at Road America on June 4 & 5.........and the Vintage Bike Festival with AHRMA races are on June 10-12.  Anyone going? I live 10 miles from RA so give me a shout for a face-to-face at the track

I am going to try my hardest to make it to the AHRMA thing at RA, but I'm getting married the weekend after that so I have a feeling I'll be very busy. Same thing as far as being part of the godzilla tour. Just going to have to wait and see how things shape up as the time gets closer.
