1978 CB750K rings and crackshaft bearings
« on: February 09, 2011, 12:30:48 PM »
So I am about to finally buy all my internal engine components and I have a question:

http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1978-honda-cb750k/o/m9458#sch400487

My bike is a 78 CB750K and I am replacing the piston rings

As you can see, RING SET (STD) is the only one available and I am guessing that's the one I need due to my bike being stock but what are all the others? ie: RING SET (OS) (0.75) or RING SET (1.00) etc...

Also I might replace the Crank shaft bearings and connecting rod bearings. Are these something that needs replacing in a typical engine rebuild? And again if so...what are all the different designations? Yellow, Green, Black, etc...What ones would I need?

Thank you for any info you have....I'll keep researching as well

STD is for standard bore and the others are for oversizes .25 mm .5 mm .75mm
To get the correct bearings you have to get the markings from the bearing journals on the case and markings from the crankshaft.
The service manual has a chart that tells you which bearings to select, connecting rod bearing shells are same way.

Also, contact them first and confirm availability. Most parts sources provide a complete part listing just for reference in many cases since many parts are no longer available.

Welcome to the adventure...
