CoachDoc, my think was that if the SoCal riders could converge on a central location, no single rider would have to go as far. How about a Socal meetup in Palmdale, and then proceeding to JT? Just throwing out ideas: in your case, it would be shorter to go straight to JT...
Scotty, that would be fine with me depending on the day of the week (I would need to go through LA to get to Palmdale, and I wouldn't do that on a weekday). If the Lancaster convergence is on a weekend then I would meet you there. Otherwise somewhere between Palmdale and JT would work. I'll check it out on a map.

addendum: Looks like Victorville would be the perfect place for myself and possibly Orange County riders as well to hook up with the group between Palmdale and Joshua Tree.

OK Scottly, add me to your list. PM your phone number so you can fill me in on last year. Where is the mascot now?
LOL, my calling plan doesn't have enough minutes to fill you in! ;D
Godzilla was done destroying North America by early October, having logged over 20,000 miles. He moved on to New Zealand, and after conquering the Kiwis, is currently attacking Australia. (The lizard does have a compassionate side, however, as he did help our injured SOHC brother, bear, get some movement back into his lower extremities. :D)
This year, his left-handed twin brother, GZ 2.0, is set to wreak a path of terror and destruction...

That sounds like a good plan.  Meet up in Palmdale on 3/25 with Northern CA riders, on to Victorville and pick up new riders and off to Joshua Tree?  Yes?  No?  Other stops for other riders?

I plan on meeting the CA riders in JT on 3-25(?), and returning to AZ the next day. Unless other riders step up to carry GZ further east, I will plan on mailing him to Justin the day after getting home. (It will take a full day each way from Humboldt to JT and back)

Yes, possibly in Justin's hands by 3/29, but you might want to add a day or two of cushion, just to be safe... ;)

I ask out of unfamiliarity: Is it reasonable/enjoyable to zoom from Lancaster/Palmdale/Ojai in one day? Mooshie, where/when is the best place to connect with you if I'm leaving Ventura at 7am sharp on 3/25?

Hello Gang,

Been so busy at work I've had no time to lurk on the forum.  I'm interested in coming along for the ride from Lancaster to Joshua Tree.

If you leave Ojai/Ventura area at 7am on 3/25 you should be in Palmdale by 9am easy (I take the 126 to the 14).  I am going to be at one of the Palmdale hotels and can meet you there for whenever you arrive.  I have yet to make reservations but will be doing so in very short while.

From Palmdale to JT/29 Palms should take less than 3 hours actual riding time, if you take hwy 18 through Victorville and Apple Valley to Lucerne Valley, then hwy 247 from there to hwy 62.

Have you decided on a route south from Oakland yet? I'm pretty familiar with CA roads...

The tentative plan is a 3/22 early am departure from funkytown, stop for the requisite photo op on the shore of the pacific, meet Domer, and continue south on Hwy 1. That could change a bit pending input from Two TiredTwo Tired- Maybe a South Bay divergence into the woods ala Hwy 35. Greggo and Domer both estimate they'll need to peel off at Santa Cruz. I reckon I'd overnight at Morrow Bay or Pismo 2/23, and again in Ventura, leave early to cut inland to meet Mooshie the morning of 3/25. I'm still researching the tastiest route from Ventura to Lancaster/Palmdale, but the dates are solid. I reckon W'll all be in touch with each other a it gets closer to fine tune the little details. Wahoooo! I'm getting excited.

Gemini, Scotty's right about taking 126 east from Ventura through Santa Paula and then catch the 14 in Santa Clarita. Then it's a straight freeway shot to Palmdale. If you have enough time you could take a more circuitous route from Ventura through Ojai, which is gorgeous, and then connecting to the 126. Hope to meet up with you around Victorville.

If you make it as far as Pismo, consider taking 166 from Santa Maria to I-5, to 138. From Santa Maria to Palmdale with this route takes a little over 3 hours. The "tastier" route would be to take 166 to 33, just past Cuyama, and then cut over to Lebec, near the Grapevine summit, and then pick up 138. As I recall, this was the route (in the reverse direction) that mooshie and scondon took last year from Rosamond to SLO.

From what I am reading, we have a gap from Phoenix to Lubbock.  Early on in the planning last year, we had some NM riders signed on for the relay, but they later dropped out.  I remember one was named Greg, who lived in Santa Fe, NM,  I don't remember the other NM riders who had to drop out.  Scottly or anyone, have yall heard from Greg or anyone in NM?  Has anyone attempted to contact any NM forum members?  I feel we need to send personal messages to all the NM sohc members asking some of these guys to step up to the plate!  Scottly, anyone, can you guys start sending personal messeges to all the sohc forum members in NM?  I will try to help with that if someone will get the ball rolling.                                    Justin in Lubbock

Right on! We are trying to link scottly in Phoenix with one of the West TX riders, likely with jcarthel. scottly is coordinating Team West and Stev-o is coordinating our effort through TX for Team Southwest.

Looking forward to meeting up in Palmdale on 3/25 (will let you all know which hotel I will be at this week so we could meet up there or close by if you want).  Went out and changed all the "o"rings on the oil pump today (that was where that silly drip was coming from--finally tracked it down).  So hopefully I did it properly.  I should know soon enough. ;)
Anyone know who all will be at the Palmdale/Lancaster meet?  So far Pat, me, Geminimotors, and ?
