I like the fact that the Chicago leg is scheduled for early August.  That way we'll avoid the occasional winter outbreaks that sometimes happen as late as may.  Nice.

I am in holding pattern until we see what weekend it lands on. Bud and I have been riding some, he has a new to him K2 836 bike we are un chopping. (Just extended forks) We have known all the owners since the late 70's should be nice after we undo a few more mods. I've met some QC area guys, they might come along too.

Count me in for Crook County, AKA the Chicagoland region.  Might even be able to get my wife to join in, so as to break up the sausage party a bit.

Whatever and whenever the ride is, it cannot be as bad and rainy as last year.  Its a meteorological impossibility.

Oh no, you didn't really say that did you? Tempting fate.

I think my shoes are still wet.

After what Jerry Craig and I went through last year we dont want to hear of may outbreaks of snow in Chicago. ;D ;D ;D

I should have checked the itinerary more closely, but maybe this year GZ can sleep in the City of Broad Shoulders.  Although GZ did make it into Crook County (and therefore the metro area), the Chicago skyline was a ways-away.  Just saying.  There are a few (*cough* drinking) establishments here that probably wouldn't mind a visit from our fine, scaly friend.

I'm hoping to join the Rally this year.  I haven't really kept track of the schedule or routes up til now.   I live in Cincinnati, when is the GZ rolling through my area?  Is this the correct place to ask?  If this info is already posted can someone point me in the right direction?

Preliminary route along with preliminary dates can be found here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=101662.0

The final routing is up to the local riders to decide!  8) If you've got ideas don't be afraid to post a regional map showing your proposed route for the region!  :o  ;D Touch base with the regional coordinators MasterChief750 AND OldSchool_IsCool as noted here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=102253.0

And yes, this is the only planning thread for Team Central. Some of the other regional riders have created seperate regional planning threads under the 2012 Relay Rally heading since some of the states got shifted around, but I don't see any reason why we can't re-use this planning thread for Team Central.

Other team threads can be found here: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?board=167.0

Having conferred with the fine coordinators, I'll be welcoming Godzilla to Chicago with a SOHC4 keg party in my spacious and crappy bike-filled garage.  Though dates and details are likely a ways off, GZ will get a more up-close brush with the Windy City.  And in turn, the many SOHC4 lovers of Chicago can say hey to GZ in person, with the help of beer and grilled meat.  As the tour gets closer, I'll be sure to coordinate with riders as well as the greater CHI bike community.  Looking forward to a hell of a good time.

Skonnie and Banker........Lefty GZ is looking like a significant ride-in appearance at Rocker Box in Milwaukee on Aug 4..........One or more riders from Omaha are coming to the party and hopefully more will join.......A few (or a lot) are invited to my place (Banker knows where) for Friday....hopefully early for a fun ride on some twisties) then into the Rocker Box on Saturday AM.

I am sure Lefty would like a nice long visit to "the Loop" since his cousin missed it last year.

Watch the TEAM NORTHERN page for more news..........

Glad to hear GZ is spending extensive time in (let's be honest) the fairer of the two midwestern states.  Its not for unbiased reasons that I am Skonnie Boy.  If its at all possible, I'll try and make Rockerbox.

But regardless, nice to start getting an idea of timelines.  Looks like the WI/IL leg is shaping up.

I'll post a place and time as things get closer.  I don't think any harm will come from broadcasting an addy, etc.

Mmmmmm Beer!!

What's the plan after Chicago?  I know of a rider or two in southern Illinois, some in Cincy and Dayton. A few in Cleveland and Toledo.

Dates on Calendar are closer then they appear!!

A mixed blessing to be sure, but a job offer has come up that I can't responsibly turn down, so I won't be able to host GZ in Chicago.  I'll be out of town from the 3rd until the 8th, so that's probably when GZ will roll through since he's slated to make Rockerbox in Milwaukee on the 4th.  I'll post to the ChiVinMoto boards, and see if I can drum up some riders, etc.  I'm sorry to bow out like this, but I gotta take this opportunity or else.

Damnit.

OK Team Central!

Time to tag up if you want a piece of this ride!  Congrats to Skonnie on the job!  Sadly tho, this wipes out the kegger/garage party in Chi Town. So we now need someone who can take the handoff from Team Northern and show Lefty around Illinois.

Will anyone be attending Rockerbox who can escort the little beasty south?

We'll need to move 'em thru to Indiana and Ohio after that. Team Michigan does have some riders ready to pick GZ up in Toledo, so if possible, that needs to be the goal.

Let's get this hammered out with riders, routes and dates. Team Michigan is planning a rip around Lake Huron and needs firm dates. And anyone that wants to join in on the Huron Rip, feel free to tag up on that too!!

I just posted the equivalent of Bluto Blutarsky''s "WW2 speech" from Animal House on the ChiVinMoto board, so I hope I've stirred some SOHC4 types from our fine city into action, and to pick up the torch, er, Lefty from Milwaukee to Chicago and parts beyond.

We may have a ride for Lefty outa Milwaukee. Seanbarney41 would like to take him across the pond to a Sunday (8/5) bike race in South Haven, Mi to root on the Cycle-X team to yet another victory!

If that'll work for Y'all, then we'll just need to figure out how to get GZ back to Team Central for a proper tour of your fine states.

Speaking of Team Central, I see one other rider in Chi (Danny), one in Terre Haute, a couple in Cinci/Dayton, a couple in Cleveland and one in Toledo. Are there any others who want in on this?  If Sean brings GZ to South Haven via the south end of Lake Michigan, then technically we'll have Illinois and Indiana in the bag.  Would be fairly easy for Team Michigan to pick up the spare by touching Ohio too. Perhaps the afore mentioned riders could all meet in Ohio before the Huron Rip so that the goal of actually meeting each other can also be fulfilled!

Time is growing short on getting this planned out!

Illinois can be bypassed if needed I picked it up (the southern half) on my way from KY into MO back months ago.. took picture in Metropolis IL for evidence.. :)

Not saying I don't want someone to take the baton, just saying that if he does have to go in the brown box, he can go to Indiana, or Ohio directly if need be.

I still would like to do some more miles myself but getting to where is is going will be the issue.  Something about this year has me all fired up but my schedule and my wife keep getting in the way.. (hmmm may have something with the wife making my schedule)

I would really like to pick up some east coast miles in Sept/Oct/Nov or even Connecticut or Rhode Island (two of five states I have never been in as far as I can remember.  that would be closer to completing my bucket list before I die.. visit all 50 states..

Understood MasterChief. What say we proceed with Sean escorting Lefty to Michigan from Rockerbox. We'll then do what we can to ride him down to Toledo so you can show him, and some of us, the sites.
