Relay Map reflects updated (proposed) dates:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=101662.0

Turns out some of the dates were out of sequence, and I fixed the fact that ALL of the dates fell on WEDNESDAY...

All of the dates on the map now fall on Saturday, which meant backing up the dates by four days. Look it over and let me know what you think!

GZ 2.0 is on the move! His bags are packed, next stop Oakland, CA, where he will hook up with lead-off rider geminimotors!

Here's a preflight photo-op, ready to go:

Hey Team Mid-Atlantic!

Lefty is rolling on schedule so far. It looks like we better start getting at least preliminary routes hammered out.  I'm coordinating Michigan and East Canada again this year. Looking at the rider list so far, there won't be any riders in Quebec or New Brunswick this year. That makes Niagara as the most likely US re-entry point.  Depending on the Ohio routes, Lefty may head to Cleveland for a few days after Niagara.

How does a Niagara and/or Cleveland handoff work for you?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Sorry, I've been WAY out of the loop lately.

If I'm not mistaken, the proposed map indicated GZ will be here around the 1st half of September?  I will be away for Labor Day, but if the timing is right, I'd love to be on board. Can you please clarify if this will be moving north like last year, or coming south at us?

Last year weekend_junkie and I did the NYC rounds. Great time had by....two. Might be able to get a few more folks from the garage to join in this year.

Keep us posted!

Hey Nortstudio!

Great timing with your post!  GZ is in Michigan right now and will be headed into Eastern Canada prolly next week. Larecords will be Eastern Canada's anchor rider.  He's located near Ottawa, so GZs crossing back into the US is possible anywhere between Eastern Lake Ontario thru Montreal area.

I've been trying to raise someone in Team New England to arrange a handoff, but so far no reply.  The silence is deafening!  Would Team Mid-Atlantic be able to take the handoff from Team Eastern Canada if no one in New England speaks up?  Timing could be as early as late August.

Not sure. Are you talking about riding up to the Canadian border for te handoff?

Unfortunately, my schedule is screwed right now, but I'll do what I can.

I know that Andy, myself and a few other New England guys are heading out to Newburgh, NY for the Cannonball Run starting at Motorcyclepedia. We'll be heading out that way on Thursday Sept. 6th through the 8th. By the "schedule" mapped out in one of the planning threads, our schedule seems to put Team New England a bit behind in terms of timing, but I figured I'd throw an option out there...

If we could somehow catch GZ when we leave Boston, we could transfer the beast off to someone down there. Any takers?

Hey Norstudio,

Just got a reply from New England. There is a group of riders, Andy included, that are planning to be at the Cannonball Run in Newburgh, my on the 9th. Newburgh is 600 miles from Ottawa. I don't know what timeframe or distance that Larecords is wanting to do. Are there any upstate NY riders that can shorten his ride and/or give the timeline some flexibility?

Hey Chewy!

Current plan is for Larecords (Larry) to ride from Ottawa to Boston. From there, Team New England will bring Lefty to the Cannonball. There are a couple other riders in the Montreal area that might join Larry, don't know for sure.

If you would like to link up with Larry and get in some GZ miles, please PM him directly. Would be awesome to take New York with a thundering Hurd of SOHC4's!!

Thundering hurd of vintage power sound good to me.  I am a bit behind with this whole relay thing what is Larry's handle so I can send him a PM.

Thanks!

I'm in the Philly area, but I've been looking for a reason to do a long ride summer (before it's over)... and I can't think a much better reason than helping GZ make his trip.

I'd be willing to head up to NY or Canada to help out... if I can take the time off.

What do the dates and cities look like right now?

Oh, Montreal sounds nice... is GZ going through there?

Hey Chris,

Best thing to do is send Larecords a PM and let him know that you'd like to join him on the ride.  He can fill you in on the dates, cities and routes he's planning.

It George from the NJ shore.  I rode on the last ride, taking the GZ handoff in Philly and riding him for a 3 day all points tour of NJ before handing him off in Brooklyn, NY.  I may be able to participate again this year, schedule permitting.

Does anyone know the overall schedule on where GZ is supposed to head to from our area?  South?  West?

I might be able to meet in Newburgh, NY at the Cannonball Run event and go from there, at least through Sunday.  Possibly longer...

Hi George,

What about that Rice O Rama is there a way to get GZ to Rice O Rama and give him the tour of upstate?  I have no idea where he is right now or how this whole relay works.  I am nominating you Mid Atlantic coordinator since you did it last year and I don't have a clue.

An update from the New England side of things...

I am hoping to coordinate further with Larry, but I believe he is going through Montreal and south to Boston. It is possible that a few of the Quebec folks will join us all the way to Newburgh.

My fingers are crossed for Larry to meet with Team New England prior to September 6th so that we can take GZ along for the ride. Has anybody planned to be in Newburgh for the Cannonball Run for Team Mid-Atlantic? It'll be great to meet any and all.

I was hoping to do part of this trip, possibly meeting up in NY at the cannonball run stop, but it's not looking good.  I have a few long term issues with my lower back and I managed to really piss it off this time.  Riding for a few days with a stiff 40 year old Giuliari seat and clip-ons doesn't sound like a terribly bright idea.
