Thanks to everyone. It means a lot that this community has reached out.

My wife and I were expecting our 5th child. On Monday she had an ultrasound to determine the sex and to see how the baby was doing. Ended up not being good news and she was admitted into the hospital for more test. Wednesday we lost the baby but my wife is staying strong. Not sure if it is right to post on here what happened but thought everyone wishing us the best it would be appropriate to share.

As far as the build goes I will finish it but at the moment we have other things that need attending.

Once again thanks again to everyone for their support.

I can't even begin to imagine the emotions you and are family are dealing with.  Stay strong brother and be there for your wife and others in your family.  Take the time to help your family heal, we will be here once you are back at it.

Im sorry for your loss. My sister went through losing her first. Tell her to be strong. But its ok to let it just come out emotionally for coping.

Tews,

Even with the four kids on tap, a miscarriage is extremely rough emotional loss.  I feel for you and your wife.

Sorry for your loss Tews, I hope you and your wife are doing well.

My wife and I experienced a similar loss this passed October.   It gets a little easier with time and support from friends and family.

Best wishes.

Well I decided now it is time to step it up and move forward on this project. Well I got the added kick in the butt from MRieck. The other day I got the cylinders and head back from him. Great work! I also have been collecting parts here and there. Some chromed goodies as well.  I will be asking a buddy today if he can help me take apart the cases to have them cleaned up to match the rest of the engine. I do not think it makes much sense to put together some really clean parts onto a dirty case. Pics to follow.

Side note nothing to do with bikes. Usually the winter months are for cleaning, restoring and building bikes for most members but our winters are heavily involved in wrestling. My youngest took 2nd in State over the past weekend. We leave for Nationals on Friday but he won't be wrestling as he broke his toe at practice yesterday.

Glad to hear you're back on the build again. I'm from the Twin Cities in MN, and can confirm; wrestling is huge in the midwest lol. Sorry to hear about the injury. But kids heal ridiculously fast. I'm sure he'll be back at it in no time!

Well I have officially taken my first engine completely apart.

What do you all recommend for the outside cases to be stripped and painted? Should I send it off or can I do it at home?

I also am struggling to remove the end part of the crankshaft. The part that is covered by the alternator cover.... Oh and that is pretty rusty....

You may need a puller...............or a friend that has one...........Good to see you back at it :) :) :)

Its best to CLEAN, SOAK, CLEAN, SOAK, and CLEAN again. Soda blasting after a good degreasing is quick. Bead-blast for a nice finish..........or paint any color you want. Whatever you do...........DO NOT USE SAND OR GLASS-BEAD.  Be sure to clean every corner or pocket, including the crank, before reassembly.
