Race to Valdosta -- Turbo Build

I'm starting this thread for fun and if it becomes reality, that will be fun too. This said..

I am proposing building a SOHC dragbike in now just 4 weeks to make the Mancup race in Valdosta, it is a long shot and a number of things will need to fall into place for this to happen. The odds are against me. I need another project right now like a another hole in my head. Lol.

The goal is to build and have a bike ready in time for the event, be it something somewhat fast or something slow. I will try to assemble it with parts mostly that I have on hand, and trying to keep it a budget build (as I always do). I will try to update nearly every day IF possible. This is my humble start, a frame and swingarm lying around from old projects.

Yesterday I dug a old frame out and cleaned it up, along with removing the horn bracket and cutting back what was left of the frame tubes above the engine. Next I will search though my parts for any that I will need to get this up and rolling. Enjoy. :)

Heck yes, and I thought I was the only person insane enough to try something like this venture. Glad to see another dragbike build in the works and a goal of making the Cup race. I think you can get it done. Let us know if you need anything.

Thanks for the support. I spent some time today digging through my super secret parts, and found a few parts. I also started making a list of parts that I need to order.

I hope to have the frame raked, swingarm extended and somewhat rolling next weekend.

Whats going on with the frame you raked and extended already?? Any reason you wouldn't want to just use whats already together?? More time to spend on other major items like a good running motor.

Just asking bro. Sure would be nice to have another SOHC on the property in race ready trim at Valdosta.

This is just going to be a bracket bike so keep it simple if you want something more complicated you're going to need more time

The bike turned out well. I don't think I saw any finished pictures of it until now.

Yes, I understand the need for a challenge. I'm sure with constant work, you can get it completed. We'd really like for you to be there.

Frank is correct. It is for a dohc #14001P, it was $278 to my door. I ordered it yesterday and it was here this morning.  :)

You are not alone TurboD....I've been doing mine secretly only so there might be less disappointment if I don't finish. Same plan as you, basically a stock bike.
Mine will be a Frankenbike for sure...76 750A, F1 parts, 350/Four tank, 78K engine for getting the bike up and driving....Frame got painted today and the Brown truck should be make several trips in the next couple of weeks....we'll see...

You guys are really piling the pressure on Bill and I. We've just got small issues to be resolved in comparisson to construction of a complete bike. 

Keep up the pace fellas. This is shaping up to be a solid SOHC showing at this race. Now if we can just get Wilbur to make a pass down the track too..........
