The front forks are way to soft for me, It looks like the refurbished front end route isn't going to cut it.
New internal springs, heavier fluid, new brake lines, new pistons, pucks, and rubber bits.
When going threw the forks, you might want to look into installing a set of "Gold Valve Cartridge Emulators" from Race Tech.

I can recommend the preload adjusters from TTR400 _ great product and they work. Have them on my K2 and K4

I have a set of bars just like that! 
Tommaselli or something Italian I believe?  I've often seen them on old Laverdas.

as long as they dont feel funky when riding they are staying on the bike.
I found them to be pretty comfortable, not to mention super groovy!

hands down my favorite bars.

You can save some bucks by skipping the preload adjusters and making preload spacers from PVC tubing, which is what Progressive uses for their springs. Want more preload? Cut a longer set of spacers. ;)

Playing with the led lights, ordered what I needed to make some dual elements. The more I think about it the more I want to build a tail light similar to forum member gold and rustys 550 cafe.

replaced the orange light under the battery box with a red one, left the one in the front but its getting replaced because I figured its finally mounting position and I can install two up there.

pack of 10 lights for 10-12 bucks online. The only thing I noticed so far is the threads aren't that deep, so if you're taken the nut on and off they are easily to strip. Second, one of the lenses popped out but it was clean and simple, I lined it crazy glue and put it back on.

I wanted to post real fast and pay some respect to my mentor, Phil White.

I bought my first bike almost 4 years ago now and have been wrenching on them myself consistently for the last 2 plus years. While I'm in my bay working on my stuff, Phil is on the other side building restorations like the one I want to share below, mini trail side hacks, customer bikes, random resto- mods, full break down and rebuild and 836 big bore done by himself, you name it, he is doing it. While he is doing all that, he is always teaching and correcting me, giving me advice that would often take someone 3-4 times to figure out. My learning curve has been reduced greatly. I just wanted to share the restoration he is currently doing for a customer.

I feel fortunate to have learned how to build a nice Honda from him and even more so, that I am able to do it while he is retired and has the time and patience. I would have given up on building if I wasn't allowed a creative workspace to do things properly and be fed like a plant.

I had the time to paint the tank the color scheme I originally intended. I also wet sanded the black tank on my bike and put a fresh coat of clear on that as well. Cleared a few other things like finned plate, brake light housing, tank emblems, and random bits.

This was a side project, test my skills kinda thing. I eye balled the lines, have a total of maybe 3 hours of work time on this, painted outside while it was 30 degrees and then brought it indoors, if you zoom in you can see all the dust on the clear. I didn't wet sand in between coats. The right side was done fairly well but the left side was off considerably and bulbous. Ill have to trace with a pencil and paper over another tank with decals and lay that down on another tank. Besides not trying any kind of finishing work I think it turned out fine and will be a good riding tank. I buy these tanks for 20 bucks, use my 5 gallon of metal rescue and paint them if they turn out good on the inside. I rather have multiple tanks than trying to have 15 bikes.

What do you guys think about the tanks? All black is just simply a VIBE.  The new tank feels like a new take on the original.....it’s not as menacing as the all black in my opinion. But hey! I can run both tanks. I decided to do away with the mini gauges, going with refurbished stock guages with chrome covers and new faces...not sure if I want all black face or all white faces.

I think you did a great job on the black and silver tank. It looks very nice! But I think the bike looks better with the black tank. The chrome and emblems are all that contrasts to the black with that tank and it just looks so cool! The silver stripes softens the whole impression in my opinion.

Softens is a great way to put it, I agree. Im still working on the rear taillight, not the route I wanted to go with it but its practicality has won me over..thats why I had to paint it. The new issue is the way  is sits because it slants with the fender and I need it to sit in line with the frame rails/lines of the bike. Ive decided to take the l brackets I made for the signals and just weld them right onto the fender just tucked under the seat where its welded already. The turn signals are going to become red running and or brake lights and the stock fender holes will receive two more motogadget pins.

Gauges are on, I went the cheapest route and used what I had, rather put 40 bucks for new black face plates towards fork upgrades at he moment. I wasnt sure which color to use since I was breaking with the overall black, grey, metal scheme. I had a set of nice blue (which i used) and a set of green faces. Ill probably swap in the green faces just to see if I like them, probably buy the white and or black ones as well anyway. They are much larger than the mini units I had up there and change the feel of things. But they are large, nice, work, and look clean. Plus, that fairing is going back on so you cant see whats back here anyway.
