No to exhaust removal. Put the bike on the centre stand and disconnect the brake operating rod and steady bar. Remove the chain guard. First you slack off the big nut on the axle (usually on the right). Next, slack off the two axle adjuster bolts (release the jam nuts first) quite a bit. They are the bolts that stick out towards the rear. Swing both adjusters down and out of the way (pointing to the floor). If you have an endless chain (no clip), shove the wheel forward and unhook the chain. Hang it up to the LR shock/spring.Now remove the bolts that are screwed down through the back end of the swing arm. Lifting them out releases the two blocks that are in the end of the slot. Pull the wheel (complete with drive sprocket, brake assembly, axle and spacers) straight back and out of the swing arm.
