Tracy Body update....
« on: September 16, 2010, 02:58:44 PM »
OK, still in the mock-up stage. Working on paint and decal layouts. What are the thoughts on this? Again keep in mind the stripe is painter's tape and the decals are just paper taped on. Paint will be metallic pearl white and the stripes will be metallic candy blue. Decals will probably be silver and smaller.

I'd scale the decals down a little, and switch em, putting the wings on the tank, and the 750four on the side. otherwise, I really like it. Makes me wish I had a Tracy body.

I just noticed the muffler heat guards are whited out, I like that. A blue pinstripe down the middle of each white stripe would be a nice detail, and tie it into the body paint too.

Shrink the logos, everyone that counts, already knows what that bike is before they can see them.. Or try the chrome OEM 72 and down 754 scripts on the sides..

Do you have a part # for the aircleaners, do they fit well??

I agree with the smaller logos... maybe even use the logo on the alternator cover as a reference to scale the tank logo. Also, maybe consider removing the grab rail from the rear, see how that looks. It seems to detract from the rear fender line. You would have to run a ground lead to the taillight since it would have to mount to the fiberglass fender. Look at it both ways, with and without, then decide which you like best 'cause you're the one that has to live with it! Keep us posted.

Can't tell from the photo but if the rear turn signals mount to posts on the grab bar there are other options for mounting the turn signals. You could substitute front turn/marker lights that are post mounted to the headlight ear like the early models (just don't hook up the running light lead with rear-facing amber lenses) or find some rear turn signal mounts from a later model that did not mount to the grab bar.

Will that tank hold up to ethanol?

It's gonna be hard to find gas without at least SOME ethanol in it. It won't take much. Better read up on it and treat that tank.

Oh, I like the 2nd version better. Agree on reducing the graphics a tad, too.
