Ah but Alan sadly you were NOT riding a SOHC (69-78) and never carried GZ...its the small details that count ;).

But regardless I think its Sean (Scondon) or Jerry who hold the record for the most miles at 2000+ miles riding with GZ...now that is impressive!

cheers
Andy

No I was not, and no, I did not. :-[      I was just faithfully along for the ride for 550ish miles...  ::)

My compliments on the quick reply too Andy!  ;)

Well riding a later model bike is pretty easy. If I had been riding my faired VStrom it would have been a walk in the park. On the other hand riding a 1970s era unfaired bike for any length of time is much more exciting and more of a challenge.

But yes you did ride the 550 miles and so credit where credit is due. Lucky that you had a fairing to make it easier for you ;)

Cheers

Cupcake, how did you see over that tank bag? That thing is huge!
That tank bag became a liability after a while since I had it a bit overloaded.  It is a two piece Fieldsheer that has been on closeout at motocycle superstore for $40.  I just got it for this ride and I now know why is has been discontinued.  You can put a bit too much weight in it and it'll lay on your legs when you lean in a turn.  Luckily, I was able to cut my total load in half by ditching my tent and sleeping bag the in-laws house.  It's nice bag though and totally worth the dough.

so on my ride home stopped at the fryeberg fair grounds and took a few pics of the bike then continued to make my short trip home. had some interesting things along the way got pulled over for speeding by a state trooper i guess my lack of speedo kinda did me in. but he was a nice guy knew i didnt have one and let me off. got lucky thats for sure. so went slower on the way back after that and then stopped at crooked river rest area for some pics. godzilla ended up finding one of the boxes that people find with their gps and put stuff in it and remove a object from the box in return. after godzilla had his fun we made the finally 15 miles home.

at Fryeberg fair grounds for a small photo shoot

made the quick stop

godzilla trying to decide if he wanted to give up his piston for the sexy bobblehead doll. he ended up keeping the piston.

Uh, Godzilla's a monster.  He can just take the sexy bobble-head doll if he wants and blow fire at whoever complains.  Right?

My tank bag actually acted very much like a fairing.  My mid section was dry for a bit longer than my helmet in that rain.

So what do we do now?  I'm feeling a ride vacuum here.  This was long in planning but fleeting in action.  500 miles is nothing when I look back on it and all that was involved is riding all day long,  which is something I love doing anyway.  Effortless, really.    I have no rides planned until the fall and they are the equal to vapor at this point.

Alan, I did not realize you logged no miles with GZ. You caould have hopped on mine and taken him around that town. I also blew Andy's birthday. I was in a daze that day. It appears I have some amends to make when I get up to Boston.

Why wait until then?  I'm down for Rice-o-rama but I'd like to get together sooner than that.  I'll bet there are some good rides down your way Adam.

I'd love to meet and ride with Bobby R.  He has good girly pictures!  Hudson Valley is pretty darn pretty.  How about an Adirondacks ride?  Anyone?

I'm there if I'm free, maybe even schedule a rain date so more riders will be sure to join?

Let's first pick a destination. I've not been there for years so I have no idea what's up there.  I always went to my ex's lake house.

Alan, some of those look good.  I like the Hudson Valley/Adirondacks idea.  I decided this morning to go to Canada with Tree and Anders.  More pics soon.
