Headlight on/off switch - lets see em'

I want to install a headlight on/off switch on the Annoying Orange. I was thinking I could just get a new modern left hand control but I would like to keep the original housing. I could install a SPST switch in the headlight bucket but its already pretty tight in there. There is also a handlebar mounted switch available but that would look lame and I would rather get a modern style switch. Does anybody else have any ideas or can you share what you have done? Got a secret switch mounting idea you haven't shared yet?

Jim what switches are you using?


I'm using a CBR switch, but it only has a high & low beam.

Most of the dudes I know with a headlight on/off switch just have it on the top of the headlight bucket withing easy reach.

I got R6 controls from febay and adapted them to my needs. It is also hi/lo only for the headlight but I dont mind.

I have the same switch as seanbarney but i put it on the flat spot of my headlight bucket. Cant be seen really and not too tough to flick.

Why do you want to shut your headlight off?  Even when it does not help you see, it helps you be seen.

To keep from draining the battery when idling during warm-up, or tune-ups, carb synch, stuck in heavy traffic, etc.  Those would be some of my reasons.

I'm no research subject, although I sometimes wish I was, but I find vehicles are much easier to see with headlights on. Yes, in daylight too.

We've had mandatory daytime driving lights in Canada for a long time and to this day I don't understand the reluctance of our American cousins not to make this safety feature standard on all vehicles.

anyone use a aftermarket off-on-on. to include their brights..? i have on i can post later, but is a pos. and blows fuses every once in a while.MAtt

Research has proven that it does work to reduce accidents. Its not a miracle worker but every bit counts

Americans are cheap in some dumb ass ways. I personally don't like how much more frequently the lights need to be replaced and the associated dick cops that always ticket you for a day runner out but it has its uses like better visibility and such
