I lived a couple miles away from him when I first got my SOHC. I didn't know such an awesome person lived in my backyard. I wish I could've met him. R.I.P.

Well, no surprise that Uncle Tez brings great luck to anything he gets involved with 8) 8)

Right after Terry, one gigantic and two sizable contributions have exceeded the fund goal! I'm sure Digger's kids will appreciate every bit of help and love his SOHC family has shown.

R.I.P my friend, you're truly missed.

Just found out last night. Godspeed my friend. I had the pleasure of meeting Robert and the pleasure of his company several times. We traded parts, talked bikes etc. We also shared the same birthday December 29th, and we always exchanged birthday wishes. I was just checking in when I got the news. He stopped by a couple of weeks before the accident. He was positive person and I always enjoyed the time I spent with him.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/daily-southtown/news/ct-sta-lockport-crash-update-st-1013-20151012-story.html

A 13-year-old girl who saw a fatal motorcycle crash in downtown Lockport last month wants city officials to make sure that safety improvements are made at the intersection where the hit-and-run accident occurred.

The Lockport teen told aldermen last week that she saw the Sept. 14 crash that killed Robert Haag, 35, of New Lenox, whom police said lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid hitting a vehicle that cut him off at State and Eighth streets.

"That day (after learning a man had died) in school was the hardest for me," the girl said. "I couldn't focus at all, and whenever someone asked me what's wrong I knew I shouldn't answer because I would burst into tears."

The Daily Southtown is not identifying the girl at her mother's request.

Police said witnesses told them Haag struck a light-colored, four-door sedan that was driven by a middle-aged man with dark hair. He remains at large.

The girl said the driver slowed down after the impact, looked out his window and apparently saw Haag on the ground before speeding away.

I'm very late to this, I just got the news when catching up on his build thread. :(  Years ago I sold him an old girder front end and have always looked forward to seeing what he'd do with it.  He really struck me as a cool and kind guy - here's my last correspondence from him:

Quote
The girder showed up yesterday - thankfully while my wife wasn't home ;)  It looks great and I'm very pleased with it!  I will keep you posted down the road when that project starts to take shape.

You spent a small fortune on shipping compared to what the auction ended at!  If you ever need a set of CB750 carbs rebuilt, I'll hook you up with free labor!

RIP. :(

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

Have there been any updates concerning the guy who caused this ?  Quite a while back I received a message through Gofundme from his family, but was unable to open it.

I just stumbled upon this thread after being inactive for several years. This is real sad to hear, because his posts were very helpful to me when I first got into 750's.

Hey Gnarly...welcome back.

Yes, Digger's death was tragic, he was a valued member of this forum, a true expert of rebuilding carbs and did it for peanuts just to help us out.

It's been 5 years now....RIP.
