Vern, have a great ride!

See you in HotLanta. Tue 11/6 or Wed 11/7 would work for me. No REAL plans yet other than arrive Mon 11/5 and head south Thur 11/8. I'm sure my sister is VERY flexible and has not made any plans other than hanging out together.

Should we rally up the ATL area riders for a get together at a watering hole for burgers and beers one of those nights?

I'm not much of a texter and don't pay attention to those funny noises my phone emits but it might work once in ATL if I know to be on the lookout. I have a 'dumb phone' and it has a 'dumber operator'  ;D . I mainly do all my texting from my computer through my Gmail acct. In the mean time should you want to get in touch, this will work, PM, email or just call 719-963-3080

It sure is!

Lefty traveled 170 miles with me today.  No rain, except few drops on the Skyline, nice weather to ride.

He got to ride in the trunk. Bigger stable bike was needed with 30-50 mph wind gusts on the interstate. My old CB650 would've been blown into the weeds. I have to admit that I was surprised when I got the Wing. It is a lot quicker than I thought.   8)

I'm alive guys, we made it home 2 hours later than intended from Hickory to Asheville, I had to slab it and the wind was beginning to toss my bike around so I go off in Black Mountain outside of Asheville.  I got caught in a storm shortly after getting on the Parkway in Asheville, so I pulled over to put on my rain gear, reached down to turn the bike off and the damn key was missing! But I was prepared for crap like that, I always carry a spare key, and I had a new ignition switch in my road bag.  I struggled into my suit in the rain, then spent at least 5 minutes trying to buckle my helmet strap, my fingers were so numb, I couldn't make them work! While I was doing all of that, a couple pulled up to me and the guy went down memory lane about the CB he used to have, actually I had 3 or 4 people that wanted to talk about my bike, one guy kept me in the McDonalds' parking lot for at least 20 minutes. you do meet the nicest people on a Honda, don't you?!
I was too far in on the parkway to turn around so I had to ride on until I found an exit and got off on 176 which had me snaking through the Pisgah National Park for about 35 minutes before I finally escaped it. I made my way to Brevard, gassed up and got directions. By the time I made it to Clayton, Ga, I'm sure I was very close to hypothermia and that was scary!
I stopped at Micky D's and dried my gloves with the hand dryer in the restroom and had dinner in front of their fireplace, which really made a difference. Back on my bike, I had to slab it again, and It was almost dark, but least it wasn't raining, my average speed from Clayton to Stone Mountain was at least 80+, don't tell my wife! GZ rode the whole way on the front of my bike. My legs, right hand and shouders began to cramp up, so the last half hour was sheer torture! I  eventually had to get off the slab because the traffic here is insane and dangerous!
Pandora performed like a  real champ and for a 40 year old bike she can haul ass! I was worried about something happening to her while I was in the middle of the parkway, if you get stranded there help will be a long time coming, especially when the weather is crappy, I didn't see one ranger either time I  rode there.   It took me about 3 hours to fall asleep last night and my hand is till numb. All of that was worth it, North Carolina is so freaking beautiful!! I'll post a link to my pics later.

Thank you Blueridge runner for your help, it was great meeting you! Okay Jerry, I'll hand him over to you when you get here! Vern

Gary, you bet, I want to do the entire BRP and then continue on the Shenadoah Valley Parway, another beautiful one! I'll start getting my guys thinking about it!

Nice Vern! Riding alone has its benefits.  At least thats what I tell myself! Wish I could join all of you but work is keeping me busy.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Bender, yes riding alone does have it's advantages, especially since I'm prone to stopping to photograph anything that catches my eye. I still need to ride to HH one of these days.

Anticipation for Valdosta is rapidly approaching fever pitch! I am reminded of the enthusiasm leading up to the kickoff of the 2011 relay. AND an entire weekend of motorcycle drag racing! The only thing that could possibly make it any better would be if we were being paid to do it! Of course, if Sam, or John, or Bill, or Jim, or anyone else racing their SOHC, might actually get paid if they make the finals!

As it stands, there should be ALOT of individual member reports following the Valdosta event based on the number of members that will be there. Should be an interesting weekend with equally interesting posts!

Ten days and counting!

Scottly and Wilbur (considering you were 2 of the main forces), looks like it's almost time to start 2013 planning. Anyone in? No guarantees on my part.....  ;) BUT, open for ideas, maybe somewhat concurrent regional rides or rallies meeting up this coming year? Other ideas?  :)
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
