double washer

Had it been the finals we probably totally would have. But we think the motor is still solid despite the downfall after the pass. I'm super stoked, boost is a thoroughly unforgettable experience.. I can't thank bill enough for the opportunity and the confidence to let me at it.

I'll return to Atlanta shortly to help Bill rebuild the motor again. But we will do it better this time and address the few little gremlins we had to deal with this week. Bills racing tomorrow! ;)

Also.. I'm looking for a ATP kit or parts to try and put one together ;)

Whut chu talkin bout, Willis??? Was the rod knocking loudly, or was the only indication the closed plug gap?

I clearly heard a clanking noise slightly from the motor after the pass that I had never noticed on a motorcycle before. After I got my time slip the bike wouldn't fire back up and I had to get a push back the pit.

The plug was closed and you can see the mark on the piston.. Either way we have plans to get this bike running fast times, consistently.. And we need a top and bottom end built with parts that we know we are comfortable with. Not to mention assembled by Bill so we know its done right  ;)

You would have to have over .028" bearing clearance to have the piston hit the plug, if there was any clearance between the piston and the plug to begin with. The only way I can see that happening is with an improperly torqued rod cap fastener. (Had a buddy that was pulling off a late night trash putting together a 440 Mopar, and after fitting the last piston assembly, set the oil pan on the upside-down block to keep the dirt out and called it a night. The next day, he bolted down the pan, forgetting that he hadn't torqued that last rod. The motor lasted about 30 seconds. :o)
How do the other three plugs look?

4 was the one hit. Pulled 1 looked fine. I'm guessing a rod nut improperly torqued etc. We'll find out! Tranny shifted great. K,  At least .030 in this case  ;) ;D, Bill

Rocking ham is a very hard track to figure out
David ran some of his quickest times until the end of the 1/8th
then it just fell over on its rear end
its just not the super-comp guys either
Top gas had the same problem, either lane and after the 8th
everyone slowed and not a lot of break outs either
very hard to dial in using past info
we still made it to the final 7 out of 33 riders (?)1 getting a bye
Mr Curtis hit the number more close than we did (8.90 index)
and that was the end of the day
LONG TRIP HOME pulled in around 2:30 this morning
6 am got here way too soon
hope everyone got home ok

Talked to a friend of mine today who was the tech director for Scooter Kizer in the Prostar days.  Told him of our problems this past weekend.  He told me they did some measurements and found that one lane is longer than the other one.  Also, the starting line is not perpendicular to the center line of the track, meaning the starting line is crooked!  I found that the right lane was funky.  I would light the prestage light, move no more than one inch, and the stage light came on?  Never had that happen at ANY other track, and I have raced at quite a few.  My best lights were .040, most slower, and my pro tree lights are usually in the .005-.015 area.  And the shut down is downhill!  Needless to say, I am not impressed with this track, like it matters.  The only good thing is it had good traction.   Now, I am not trying to make excuses, but Jim is correct.  Other people than me were having the same issues.  I will be trying to noodle this race out for quite awhile.  Still better than being at work! ;)

Too much, even with a decent amount of timing pulled. The turbo and waste gate are gonna be sent to be examined and serviced to make sure the housing is sealed properly for oil leaks and the waste gate is set where we want it. Bill has seen as much as 17lbs before so id assume it made that much or slightly more. I was too busy trying not to miss the last turn off to pay attention to the gauge before it settled

Wow Bill, nice ashtray!  That won't buff out.  Did it tear up the liner?

Mike, Dragbike wouldn't have any say so about the track.  On top of problems I mentioned, the right lane timing light at 1000' was not operating.  This same friend said the track owner does very little maintenance.  I would guess the track personnel are not to concerned with accuracy in the timing system.  IF that is the case, it makes it very hard to dial in a vehicle.
I'm not as smart as I look, but I am pretty.
