Not sure, Bluto, if you want to hand it off to me but my services are available. I can still take the little monster out to Birmingham for a quick drop off at Barber. I hear Cheaha is nice this year and have never been there.

The 550K3 is at the ready. Let me know. Anyone want to come along? Looks like about 360 round trip.

Marc

Hi Marc,

Just keep the communication flowing, we will plan to meet up at Barber.  From there the Bham group will head West to MS, LA, or AR.  At this point I think we are going to meet Coke for the next handoff.

Bill,
Sunday is a church day for me so I'm off the grid. I have cold weather togs on the way so I will be ready next week.
I can meet y'all for the hand-off or y'all can meet me in the Douglasville area on the way west. Better to ride with a group but I've soloed before.

My only limitation is that I would rather ride in fair weather so rain will delay the trip.

Kirk,
I have the route planned but need to write it out as guidance. 78/Bankhead Highway to Tallapoosa and then rural roads down through Cheaha and up through 25 to the Barber area. Handoff location is your call.

Let's go back and forth to see what works best for you. We should be able to make this happen.

Hey wilbur.....

I called the Hazlehurst tourism office (hehe...yep, they have a tourism office) and the guy said we should meet at:

Sisters Country Kitchen
90 W Coffee St
Hazlehurst, GA  31539
(912) 375.2396

Said it's right downtown and serves up a mean Sunday buffet!

We should hit town @ 12:30.  I've got your cell and you have mine if needed.

Unless I hear different........see ya there!

Proposed route to Barber from Douglasville. Of course, I can meet you, Bluto, somewhere closer to town and Godzilla can be my house guest for the night and, Kirk, I can meet you somewhere in Leeds. Alternately, happy to ride with anyone so suggest an alternate route if you like.

Googlemaps should fire-up.

Hi Marc,

Great that you can do the Bham leg.  That's a very cool ride over to Barber...Bankhead Hwy. all the way (almost).

I'm slammed the rest of the month so I'm out... but ya might get Vern / Bluezboy and Adam/Rocker to ride with you.  They both have been known to have had plastic lizards stuck in their handlebars.  :)

Sorry to be late to the party.  But unfortunately I won't be able to do Sunday. :'(  I won't be getting off shift until about 8.  Plus at this point I'm not sure how much homework I'll have to do that week either.

Bill, Vern, and Adam - when you return, tell me how it is best we should meet for the hand-off. If any of you want to come along, by all means, I'd love the company.

If a handoff, I'm sure there's a Waffle House in the area but we could treat Godzilla to a higher class meal at Cracker Barrel.

The CB will get its weekend health check so she'll be ready.

Marc,
When do you anticipate coming toward Birmingham?  I will either meet you out toward Cheaha and ride back in or at Barbers depending on what all is going on.

Hi Kirk,

I guess it's best to first ask how much advance notice you need. I'm not very busy at work and my management is very flexible BUT I am interrupt driven. Plans can be disrupted.

Right now, I am thinking mid-week but the Atlanta contingent may want to come along and that adds a wrench in the works. Still up in the air.

Watch this space, as I am.

This is getting quite exciting! I'll spend some of today readying the machine for the ride. The warm weather gear came in yesterday and fits perfectly. Next week looks like sunshine and warmth all week - not that the weatherman is worth much.

Y'all keep safe. Those cagers are all out to kill us. New route is Bankhead highway-less. Hopefully, some of you can share the Atlanta to Birmingham leg. Let us know!

Arrived in Hazelhurst a little before 7:00 last night. Turns out we're in a dry county so I had to keep riding to the "countly line package store" for refreshments. GZ 2.0 tagged along for SAG's. Bad move, since they were fighting over the last shot!

Hopefully we can get this handoff done soon before one of them gets hurt...

Won't get around to posting a ride report until tomorrow earliest since I'll be riding most of today too.

Had a great time today.  The weather was great and the company was the same.

Nice meeting Bill, Vern, Adam and Wilbur.  Oh and GZ.

These guys have some very nice bikes.  Makes me really want to get mine on the road.

And they're are all iron butts.  The mileage they rack up amazes me.  I was ready for my recliner when I got back to my house after 160 miles.  The guys from Atlanta did 250 just to get to lunch!  And I don't know how many Wilber has racked up already.

After some good conversation, buffet lunch and some good conversation, Wilbur and I headed Southwest toward I-75 as the other guys kidnapped GZ and  tore off to the west.

I sure enjoyed the day.  I hope everyone else enjoyed a safe and fun ride today.

Got back safe and sound a little after 8:00 P.M.

Just over 350 miles with GZ up to Hazelhurst yesterday with anothe 350+ back home today for just over 700 relay miles. Good to have some time to sit and meet with other members Bill, Adam, Vern, and Mark.

Even met the chattiest local resident of Hazelhurst!

Coke,

Still not seeing anyone signed up in MS.  Plus we haven't finalized the date for the lizard to get to Birmingham.  So no definite plans with respect to dates at this time.

Anyway, I could probably make Hot Springs, AR for a hand-off.  I have never been there but a hot soak sounds inviting after 400 plus miles, so that could be a good destination.  That would let us check off MS too as my route would take me through Tupelo.

If I need to go in a more southerly direction I could meet somewhere in Louisiana with someone from the Houston contingency.

Let me know what you guys need me to do.
