Topic: Cool way to remove tire?

Anybody ever done it this way?  I was randomly surfing youtube.  I took it to a dealer last time because I had so much strife out of the tire.  I might try it this way next time.

I've heard of it but never did it.  Personally, I'll never change another tire without a breezer...

Well, it is ingenious I guess.  But I could have had that tubeless tire off and back on there three or four times in the time he did it once (even with the edits) with three tire irons and some Ru-Glide.  Without being in any particular hurry.

Yeah, those zip ties are useful for other things, but I guess you can use what's left of them.

I've never heard of a breezer or ru-glide.  I never saw the orange tool like he has, but I know that the arbor press can be used in a similar fashion. I used the old style tire tools and a opiece of antifreeze jug to prevent scratches.

We keep the leftover useable zip tie bits in a drawer and check there first for one long enough before getting out the new box.

I remember buying the bumpersticker that says 'Use Less Stuff.'

I hate to say this but some of the old time enduro riders I knew would have the wheel off, the tire off, at least one side, the tube out and patched, back in, tire back on and wheel back on blown up and their tire irons and pump packed away and motoring by the time he got the tie in place, I was impress the first time I saw some one break a bead with their boots, any how, I guess I'm not with the times.

I reuse zip ties by slipping a pocket knife blade under the catch ratchet and releasing it, the strap slips off and I pull the blade out.  Then again I am cheap... fixed income old fart with too much idle time on my hands!

I tried this method. Tried zip ties. Tried ratchet straps. Didn't work. Tried good old tire levers with some muscle behind them. Worked.

I recently found two good old 14x7 five spoke mag wheels with dead tyres,the shop charged me 5 bucks to pull the old tyres off,with zip ties it would've been more like $127.43c ?

Have seen ugly scars on rims where irons have been used. Still, its good to see something a little different which may be useful sometime to someone.

Definately interesting as a thought exercise, but completely impractical in the real world.  I didn't sit there for the full video, I just skipped through, I have a short attention span.  He could have edited it back to a 2 minute video and still gotten the idea across.

Zip-tie method looks legit though. They even make reusable ones with a little trigger. With practice tire irons are quicker, but this looks like a good way to save a rim: no matter how careful you are, working with Ru-glyde makes it quite likely to slip an iron and scratch a newly painted rim to hell.

The thing with mounting tire that always gets me is popping the bead back on on a tubeless tire. Never fails to scare the crap out of me. Also getting rid of tires in NJ is challenging.

The main reason I started changing my own tubeless tires (i have always changed my own tube type tires) is that I didn't want my wheels dinged. I've never seen a wheel come back from a dealer without a new mark on it. So I started doing my own almost 25 years ago. I don't mark my wheels, and I don't mark wheels belonging to others who bring them to me because....they know I don't mark wheels. Dinging wheels with tire irons is not inevitable.  Using RuGlyde makes it less likely you will slip. With lubrication and correct technique, little force is necessary. Less force means less likelihood of a slip.

Yeah I'm not that good, I'll use all the help I can get. Last time I pinched the gd tube in a few places on the rear wheel, duh... Live and learn, each time it gets a bit easier.
