I had a hard time discerning but I thought about most work was done with copper wire "back in the day". I can certainly be wrong as it is very tricky to see what is raised and what is depressed. I also thought the o rings glued themselves to the head gasket with all that 1104.

Well, it's SS wire in the cylinders, copper headgasket, the SS rubs the copper or keeps it clean so it looks like copper wire came off, but didn't. Hadn't seen copper against SS before. Whoever assembled it LOVED 1104, sh*ts everywhere ! Here's a pic of the cylinder with the SS wire. I'm on it, we going to have an auto or two and a clutch bike or two in Valdosta !!!!

That's how we seal up the nitro burners, except our SS rings are in the head with a receiver groove in the sleeve flange face.
I've also only seen the copper wire used in bike applications. Interesting.

I'm fairly certain that Brent Waller uses ss wire o-rings over copper head gasket on his road racer 572 engine. SS wire will not compress and flatten like copper does. So SS wire presses into the copper head gasket basically intact dimensionally.

You are correct George....Brent does o ring the sleeves. I used stainless .030 in my first generation of blocks (copper head gasket used). Since the introduction of the MLS gasket no more o ringing (what a fun job). i have seen o rings in the head and into the sleeve flange on heavy boost bike engines.

Those domes look identical to the pistons in my engine. F3 head, k model pistons but its working. Wish I could put my hands on a nice set of 73mm pistons to match that F head. I'm jealous Bill, not only do you match but you're color coordinated too.

Yes, that's one reason bottom end coming apart! Mr. Gene Morgan crashed at 79 years old in 2013! He doesn't remember it either, they think the throttle stuck on the turbo automatic, not the one I'm on now. I got a feeling were going to see some ugly rod or main bearings.....that noise I heard! So far the bent exhaust valve is the worst., Bill

Here's your cam sprocket bolts. Original, Superseded, and Yamaha FJ1200. Honda was a 7x12 hardened bolt. Came out originally for a 125 single. All SOHC 's 69-78, K, F and A used these. They have superseded to an ATV one, 7x10.5 flange bolt, originals were 7x12. Yamaha's are 7x14, look to be a harder #10 grade? 7x14, but appear to have been cut from a longer threaded bolt? WYT? , Bill
Hell, they all practically the same length, there is a small shoulder on the Yamaha ones. I like the Yamaha the best still! Both are better than stock.

Bill, I'm sure you noticed the Yamaha bolts have a better shoulder plus a much better head. No question. More good info sharing from Mike years ago.
