Best quality seat covers??
« on: March 15, 2017, 04:48:34 PM »
I have tried the search option in order to see if there is info already out there on this topic, but I had no success with it (probably me!!).  Can anyone direct me to the best place to buy a replacement seat cover for my 1977 CB 750?   I will need the strap, and strap hardware along with the cover.  Am I correct in saying that the design in the padding on the top of the seat cover is "pressed" into the originals, and that some replacements are sewn in, or am I wrong about that?

Thanks

Larry

It's been a while so I can't give names but I bought a seat cover for my K0 on ebay and it is spectacular. It's stitched instead of welded. Fits like a glove. I don't think it came with the strap - I think I used the original.

gumtwo on eBay. That's the stitched one - affordable and well made.  I've got two of them currently. Can't say enough good things.

The pattern is originally pressed into the cover. Ebay seller gumtwo has the seatcovers with the pattern stitched rather than pressed in. Most ppl in here give it a good review. I have one - it fit perfectly, seems to be good quality and is very comfortable. Tight-fit-seats (UK seller) has replica covers a little cheaper that have the pattern pressed in. I have one of them too, but I haven't used it much yet - so far it seems maybe a little less durable and comfortable.

If you get a gumtwo, make sure you put some plastic wrap or some plastic sheeting under the cover. That way water won't soak your foam through the stitching.

It also helps prevent the cover from getting "hung up" on the foam while pulling it into position. I wrapped my seat from side to side all the way around with overlapping passes from front to back with saran wrap and then trimmed it underneath so it folded under the bottom edges with the cover leaving it just short enough so it did not "peek out" from under the cover.

New gator teeth upholstery strips riveted to the seat pan to hold the new seat cover:

All that work just for this:

Seriously, what good is a buddyseat cover if it can let water into the foam??

I appreciate the help.  Does anyone have any experience with covers from Morreti Direct in the UK, and if so are their seams pressed versus sewn.  Is there a good source for the strap hardware.

Thanks again

Larry

For anyone's future reference, Gumtwos CB 750 K7 seat cover is patterned more after the K8, and is sold to cover either year.
