Placement and function of oring
« on: December 01, 2020, 03:11:35 AM »
Hi guys

What is the real aim of this oring (91304286000 part) ?

I just pushed it into the groove but the groove is deeper than the oring.
so I assume no sealing between cylinder bottom flat and upper flat of crankcase to prevent external oil leakages. Further the paper seal is thick 0.5 mm and around such seal, therefore one more reason to be doubtful..

thanks

Those orings keep oil from creeping up between the sleeve and cylinder block. You can just seal that groove with Hondabond and save the cost of the orings if you want.

I've been wondering about this myself.  What can happen if oil gets between the sleeve and the casting?  Anything bad?

If the oil catches fire there will be a terrific explosion blowing the head off the engine, through the frame tubes, gas tank and possibly killing the rider if he fails to bail in time.

My old big bore motor has a flycut case and the rings slid down the sleeve. They ended up chewed up and stuck to the oil pump screen.

I would donate a spare motor to see this!  Without the rider on it, of course.  ;-)

Absolutely zero percent chance of that happening. But would be fun to watch!

Who would be best suited to set this up? Maybe Cal can do it then we send the motor up to JWilde and film it. I’m in for $100 for a spare motor.

Didn’t JW say he can do 80mph in his 350F in second gear? When this motor goes off he could do 80mph vertically.
