Bearing retainer tool - CB750
« on: November 27, 2022, 11:26:53 AM »
I’ve googled many terms and can’t seem find a tool for the rear wheel bearing retainer on the 750.

It’s the larger of 2 retainers, part 41231-283-000.

Does Motion Pro make a tool for this?

Thanks!

Thanks! I’ll check that out.

However I really only need to one tool as I already have the a clutch tool and tool for smaller retainer.

I’m not actually working on a 750 just have a rear hub I’m using on a different project.

And yes I definitely also have paper manuals that don’t go to the work shop.  If I need a reference while working there I just print the relevant pages ;)

You might not need a tool to remove the bearing retainer if you drill out the staking deep enough.
Last one I did was on a drill press and it's very easy to tell when you've drilled completely through the threads. After removing all of the chips my retainer unscrewed with only finger pressure.

I made mine using a simple aluminum bar from Home Depot. I drilled the 2 holes and inserted a bolt with an OD almost the ID of the holes in the retainer through each hole with one end of the bolt protruding out with a nut on each side of each bolt leaving bar at both ends to leverage.

There's nothing special about Honda's "special" tool. You can make one yourself.

Old wrench from angle grinder.  Drill holes where you need them and insert spring pins.

Stand on the center to keep in place and hammer the ends to back the retainer out.
