Wow, I mean just WOW. I got my 750 all together today and took it out for a ride after having the cases apart to address a transmission issue and I'm nothing but smiles right now. It was my first serious effort at messing with a transmission so I was apprehensive on whether I could fix the issue the bike was having popping out of 4th gear when under a load but right now it shifts smoother than it ever has since I've owned and no problem with 4th gear anymore. Today has been a good day for me. ;D
Woo Hoo- Glad you experienced good success !!

Yesterday I was getting ready to install push and pull cables on the K3F - only to find out the wire to Start button broke off.

Oh well :)

Ordered new clipons so my new MC wouldn't hit the clamp. And also painted a bracket to hold my ignition. Also ordered this stuff called Versimold, anyone hear of it? It's like play-doh and you can form it to make rubber parts then cure it in the oven or with a heat gun for a few minutes. Resists gas and oil it says. The part can be as good as you want depending on your forming abilities. Hope it works out.

These from ebay. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=190714880810

See how it looks like you can "choke up" on the bar close to the clamp with the MC? My current clipons, and a lot of others I see, have a really bulky clamp that make the MC hit and not let it get close. These seem like they're shaved down. They didn't have any measurements but I'm going by eye. Hope I'm right!

I could have gone with these to totally eliminate the issue: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=181690007779 but where the pinch part is that seems like it would hit my tank. The '78 550K has a pretty large tank. More info than you wanted but I'm at work so I felt like replying in detail, ha.

New fuel lines to my TMR32's today. The other hoses were not good when one of them got a kink or 2. Result : No fuel to 1,2.
6mm hoses from tank connected with steel braided hoses via reducer 6,3 - 8mm.
Now much better routing of the dual fuel hoses.

Changed out the clutch cable on my K4.  I found a Euro-spec NOS cable that fits perfect on my K4 which is fitted with super bars.

Got my head torqued down... PO didn't install the M6x35mm under the pucks, so I replaced all 6 of them: 5 M6x35 and 1 M6x90 10.9 grade socket heads with washers. Torqued those all down to 90 in-lbs. On to the head nuts... added a dab of oil on the threads and washers, then torqued in sequence to 8 ft-lbs first, then 15 ft-lbs. Checked them all again afterwards, and the M6s needed a bit of snugging. Tonight I will loosen everything and do it again!

Now I just need to wait on new cam towers to come from a generous forum member, and then I can proceed! I'll check all my torque again before sealing the pucks and putting on the towers.

Also took off the cam chain tensioner and lubed it.

Pounded out old swing arm bushings.  Stopped at a place that sold dry ice.  Packed bushings with the ice while I prepped the swing arm.  Went in and had lunch.  Bushings went in super easy.  Used a 1/2 inch all rod and thick washers.

Speedo cable broke on me, guess it happens.

Scavenged the one from the project and replaced it.

Started the bike and let idle warm.
Verified that the really cheap and bad fuel line which collapsed direct at installation and tricked me to go for richer pilots due to lack of fuel. Kinked hose hidden behind air filter. I have never seen such bad fuel hose before.
With working fuel lines and fuel too all carbs I also verified that the pilot mixture screw adjust fuel, located on engine side of throttle.
Need to change pilot back to the leaner I had  from the very beginning. Do that tomorrow.

Will search for good fuel hose to be trusted, made in Europe or USA. Cotton or nylon braided would be fine.  Inner diam 8mm and 6,3 mm

After another pretty decent snow yesterday I'm out with the bike. Ran wires through the handlebars and going to be installing single brake line. So much cleaner of a look. They're only clipons so it was pretty easy to do.

Replaced the air filter with a custom built one.  Much tighter fit for the box.
Tightened the #2 exhaust valve, gap was probably double what it should have been.
Reset the idle air mixture screw on the #4 carb, was probably 1/4 turn too far out - I can't remember if that's too lean or rich.

Cleaned the control switch interior.  A lot of my electrical gremlins went away after I wiped off all the grease and dirt that had accumulated in there.

Haven't gone for a ride, need my brake line before I can do that.  Brakes are just too mushy to trust.

Nice haul from Canadian Tire...

Mothers Back to Black
STP High Mileage oil treatment (for the ZDDP)
Permatex Ultra Grey (AKA Hondabond)
Permatex thread sealant
Permatex dielectric grease

Mothers Back to Black really works! Holy smokes! My airbox is all scratched, but at least it's shiny now!

Also did the second round of torques on the head.. loosened 1/2 turn in sequence, tightened to 8ft/lbs then 15ft/lbs.

Installed a new gasket for the cam chain tensioner, which is held back until I get the cam/sprocket on.

Drained all my oil. I'm letting everything drain overnight, and then I'll be dropping the pan tomorrow, too. Just to see what might be lurking inside... we shall see! Probably will give the oil pump screen a scrub, too.

I bought a battery and started it, it has been sitting disassembled in a damp block storage building  since november 2011. I got a battery gave it a shot of WD-40 and a shot of starting fluid, it would not turn over with the starter but it started and ran on 4 year old gasoline, one the second kick, I guess I'll put it back together and take it for a ride.

That STP additive may possibly just be some snake oil if you want good zinc. Here is one test somebody did on the stuff. Is it for cars that have high mileage already ? http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2701357#Post2701357

I have seen adverts for a zddp product from Eastwoods recently.  I'll still stick with the original zddp brand.
