I believe I remember him saying the special bronze he uses for the bushes (oilite?) may weep a little oil if baked like that, but as it cools it sucks it back up.  I don't believe it will dry it out and lose it's lubrication properties.

i also remember him saying that when he got ron's p2 chrome swingarm he was nervous about dining up such a thing of beauty.  :D

seems to me there must be a way to protect/cover a finished arm for hondaman's touch, no?

Sending it out in half-an-hour...Emailed the Man himself and he said powder coating will be fine after...I'll just have to make sure no coating gets in the pivot holes. He described an easy method to accomplish this...Can't wait! Almost back to rolling chassis...this time, clean and tight!

Can you tell me some more details about your seat?

Did you ditch the 836 idea?

Must watch this thread.  78K is the way to go.  Can't think of a better bike that ever existed.  With a few mods of course ;D

Sorry if I missed this somewhere along the line but what did you do for a battery? I checked out the Carbon Speed Products website and their little batteries SOUND great but whats the real word? I would love to get rid of my dead weight battery and go with something smaller and lighter.

just FYI, you can pick up sets of GL1000 bolt kits for about half that on e-bay.  but there's nothing like new stuff like those parts!  great find, BTW

I wish I had more to report...I moved (with my girlfriend), then I got a puppy...I have not worked on the bike in forever...its killing me

Freaky1 - nothing to report on the battery. Have not made much progress in WAY too long...hopefully get the ball rolling again soon....thanks for all the kind words...

I know the feeling of no work, I did order some parts the other day and they should be arriving soon, always makes me feel better. I just went with the original plan for the batter and got on of the stock sized mount anywhere sealed jobs.

Thanks for the links....I think no signals (other than the bar-end ones) will look really clean. I just got 1974 fork ears so I wont have those massive '78 signal lights up front...

Let me vouch for Monster Parts - the guy who runs it is a very good dude.  I've bought from him and had a good experience.

FWIW, I'm not a shill for Race Tech - I've just got a thing for good suspension and the RTCE's are the most cost-effective mod for these old damping rod front ends.

400, 800, red rouge, 1000, white rouge...I'm pretty happy with the results.

Any black caliper paint recommendations?

How the heck do the marker reflectors come off?
They spin but the bolt inside doesn't move?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going with this style and powder coating them black and using fork gaitors. It's going to look sweet with my 66 black bomber headlight bucket and speedo/tach combo...just need to get them apart?!

I can't remember if I used the Duplicolour or VHT caliper paint, but it holds up well(even to a minor brake fluid leak)
