It was Brown Bomber and he suggested going to Indy from Cincy and bringint IT back to Cincy. But we haven't heard from him lately that I know of.  I'll PM him and see if I get a response.

I haven't really heard much about what the Indiana route will be or if it's even been discussed.  As I understand it, "IT" will be coming to Indiana via Chicago.  Cincinnati (or towards there) seems like a logical place to hand off to OH.  I kind of recall someone requesting that the route go through Cinci when this all started to get planned....maybe it was Brown Bomber?

Are we thinking Chicago to Cincinnati via Terre Haute, Bloomington, Indy?  Don't have my heart set on any of it.  I'll be picking things up in NW Indiana or Chicago.  I am anxiously awaiting parts for my K6.  I have a K8 "on deck" but it needs some work to be made road worthy as well (nothing internal).  I'd like to think of it as last resort.   :-\

I'll be riding from indy. not exactly sure how far ill make it but ill be there. Motor speedway is a great place for a photo.. if we sweet talk the yellow shirts we might be able to take "it" for a lap. even if it is in the tour bus ride.. haha

I think I'd like to avoid the straight shot across OH. Part of this ride is to photo the mascot and banner at various landmarks in the country. I had planned to photo it at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleve. and then whoever is riding to Pitt could do the Foot Ball Hall of Fame in Canton on its way to Paul (05c50). When it hits Columbus, it should make a stop at the AMA Motorcycle Museum in Pickerington, OH. After Columbus, on its way north, it would be cool if it could swing by the MID-Ohio Track in Lexington. where we hold the Vintage Motorcycle Days event each year. Just saying.....
Not a bad plan!

Riders, please post your logs here:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=85509.0

Be as detailed or brief as you like, but please share any eventful moments of your ride, interesting people you may have met, what you liked the most, etc. Don't need lots of pictures, maybe one of the handoff or maybe a group shot of the riders you were with for however far you were able to ride. You don't necessarily have to be the one that carried the baton, but you do have to have already ridden in order to post there.

Please reserve that thread for RIDER LOGS ONLY. Comments to the riders logs there would stretch that thread out to be quite large long before the relay nears completion. By keeping that thread limited to RIDER LOGS ONLY should help improve readability for many of our forum members. I have renamed the "Godzilla Sightings in Daytona!" to "Godzilla Sightings in Daytona AND BEYOND". Please continue to use that thread for posting comments, quick updates, creative pictures of Godzilla, expanding upon the unfolding story of Godzilla's adventures, (almost) anything goes in that thread. Please reserve the Rider Log thread for factual reports and rider's insights only. Our forum moderator will be deleting comments from the Rider Log thread to help promote it's linear progression as our Relay moves forward.

Enjoy the ride guys, Godzilla's comin your way!
TAMTF...

I’m in Cleveland, OH.

I think we should meet up in Columbus then ride north to take a few pics and meet up. Then circle back to Columbus so the Cincinnati area folks can do the same. I have a bad back but should be able to squeeze out some good riding and this will put us at 2-3 days in Ohio. I'm still a bit new so I would prefer to ride alongside someone else.

I think all the Ohio folks should come up with a plan separately. There are a lot of posts to sort through and honestly I’m a bit confused!

I believe that Popwood is getting the handoff from IN.... There are three (possibily four) of us in Cleveland and one in Toledo. Masterchief is Toledo, John D, You, and I are in Cleveland.  I most definately want "it" to come up to cleveland. The hand-off to PA will be in Sharon (near warren & youngstown) at the the QS&L to 05c50(paul) so coming up here makes sense for many reasons. "It" should make a stop at the museum in Pickerington(east of Columbus) prior to coming north.
I was looking at a map and it looks like out of cleveland, we could take US422 to warren and then pick up OH82 to US62 into sharon to the qs&l.

Glad to see you guys (and gals?) are getting your routes finalized.  Team Rockies is getting close on their routes and dates which will toss the Calendar Ball in your court.

I don't wana be a nag on dates, but us downstream coordinators need dates too!  By having your routes done, quality dates are sure to follow!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I agree.

Let me know what I can do to help make that happen. I can take a couple days off work with a little notice and I’m willing to accompany anyone down to Columbus and back if the Cincinnati folks want to meet up there. I’d also be willing to split a motel room if needed.

I can't get too many days off work but might be able to get a friday here or there and there's the rest of the weekend. I can meet down in columbus/dayton area and can ride all the way to cleveland although id prefer not to do it in the same day

no one has really suggested a schedule so i will
day 0 - take handoff
day 1 - cinci to dayton to cbus to toledo
day 2 - toledo to cleveland
day 3 - cleveland to handoff

do we have people in dayton? if not we could cut that? just trying to get people thinking. also we could take the costal ohio trail from toledo to cleveland or at least port clinton to cleveland thats the part thats actually good, the segments through toledo are umm not very fun, and it goes north beofre going west. http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/59836/travel.html?map=Western_Section heres a link to a map of it

Might need a little extra on the first leg if it goes to Columbus and then to Pickerington to the museum. Columbus to Toledo is only about 2-4 hour ride. About the same from Toledo to Cleveland and about the same from Cleveland to Sharon, PA.

Just a thought.........anyone that still wants to ride after the handoff in Sharon, Pa is more then welcome to ride along with me to Greensburg. I have lots of room for overnight guests, and my wife won't mind...........she's used to it by now. ;D  I haven't found any riders in western Pa to hook up with yet.

I am working on the mo-il map. there is a mo route suggestion here that we seem to agree on and then up the river road through Illinois then east to chitown. Not sure if we are going into ST Louis or not. Input Mo. guys? Chicago guys, handoff location input? Rt 66?  Pheasant run at Portillos?

Hopefully starting no later than 5-15,

The rough Mo. - Il. route looks  like KC start, east on RT 50 to Sedalia to Jefferson city then 91 east (to ST. Louis?)ending up going north on 61 to Quincy - Hannibal. then into Illinois, north on the great river road to quad cities area then East toward Chicago.  This route is based on input recieved and hopefully allows as many that have posted an opportunity to join in.  We have friend near Sedalia just in case. He may tag along with a pick-up for a while.
So,, what do you guys think? With roughly 2-3 days per state how far per day should we go?

I'll get more detailed as I gather input from you guys. Indiana, ohio next.

Hey Don! I HOPE and PRAY it's later, I'll be in Los Angeles on business May 16-19, I was looking at that weekend (5-20) or the next weekend as the initial dates rolled in, but, this is how my life works, so I'm starting to accept it!  Fam reunion on Vintage Days, nieces graduation on Lake Erie Loop, and it's like that every year... sigh...
