Where would Arkansas and Oklahoma be a part of a team.  Last year I picked up the lizard in TN and went into KY and IL and MO back to my house in Van Buren.  can do again if needed but hope there are more participants this year.  not that I don't like to ride, but I just think it is cool to do this relay and hope others will see it the same way.

I could see a path across the Southern states ( FL/GA/AL/MS/LA/TX/NM/AZ/CA) then come back on the next level up states (NV maybe back through the south of utah and CO and then maybe KS to OK AR MO then down to TN and the Carolinas, then up to VA and maybe DE, NJ MD across OH, IN, IL etc ..  etc

If we are going to do activity stops, I would like the AR, OK, MO, KS folks to consider Bikes, Blues BBQ in Fayetteville about the middle of Sept.  This is an open and free rally, lots of local bands on stage and national bands.  often there are demo rides from Harley, Victory, Suzuki, Yamaha (but Honda has never done demo rides (not sure why)

thanks for considering

I was kind of thinking AR and OK, (all 3 of you ;)) would be included in team 2? If you were to head east and intercept the riders from TN and AL, then head back towards TX, how would that work? Screw the states that don't participate. ;)

heck, that is what I enjoyed the most, covering more states than anyone else.. :), but yeah.. I guess just screw'em would make it easier on my wife.. LOL.  She worried about me running out there by myself across KY and IL and MO but I enjoyed it.

I would think the problem would be getting TN covered from LA.  do we have LA riders?

I have not been on the 'puter much...........but some sad news may provide a theme for this year's ride............Bob Hansen has passed away.  He was the man that told Mr. Honda to scrap the big twin idea and build a bike based on Honda's successful 4-cylinder GP racers.  Take a look at the thread in the performance page.

Anyone for a theme?  I liked the original idea of a banner to pass with everyone's signature.

And yes, my event list is for 2013.........and the map is WONDERFUL 8) 8) 8)

We need more riders ;) ;)

You know, I took part in my first relay last year with the New England guys and Jerry's motivational speech got my ass over here to sign up.

I'm enduring a nice MA winter at the moment, but I'll be in if the bike is fixed in time ;D . If not, I'll do what I can.

Bob, how about something like

                                                            SOHC4.net World Tour 2013

Godvilla v3.0 - Memorial to Mr American Honda - Bob Hansen

Etc, kinda long but it incorporates several elements

Just read my new Hog Tales magazine. Harley is doing their around the world promotion and using a jacket signed by Willie G as their handoff Godzilla. Fukn copy cats!! (No Harley bashing here guys. Do it elsewhere please)

Has anyone given any thought to a commemorative t-SHIRT? I know we have some talented artists here. something simple and cheap to print?  we could do that zazzle thing but I think those are heat transfer which I am not a fan of.

Ideas???

We have patches and T-shirts available from somewhere....someone?

I have a '70s HONDA nylon jacket to donate for a banner...........it could be signed by everyone, but where would it be displayed? .....maybe at future events?

If we are to memorialize Mr. Hansen............someone should contact his family.........possibly through Bob Jamison.

Ideas???

Our initial t-shirts were from CafePress.com and they are heat transfer. That first year was all trial and error on everything. Someone finally came up with a design that was agreeable then found CafePress which was a last minute but VERY easy thing to do.

Again, we gotta find that talented artist and get them to P A R T I C I P A T E. We had a few 'ideas' about design and had to go with the best option. Some were OK some not but people were giving their input and thats a good thing. There can only be one final pick. I vote screen print! Now we need designers and a screen printer from our group.

We have had patches for each year but just first year t-shirts. T-shirts ordered individually on demand and patches done in batches and ordered by one of our members and distributed.

I have the original banner. It is 30 X 18 and it filled fast with signatures. We had to get another blank 30 X 18 along the way and one side of it is pretty much filled with signatures. The jacket would be great but I don't know if it would handle all the potential autographs.

I agree that Mr Hansen's family should be contacted but how, who?

Count me in as a SoCal participant. I'm in San Diego, but L.A. is doable as well. BTW, I was down for last year until the rains came. After laboring over a long restoration, I just couldn't bring myself to put my baby out there in the foul weather. Hence the prospect of a May event (no rain) is appealing to me on multiple levels.

I'd love to help out somehow too. I'm hoping my bike will be road worthy by spring but we'll see.

I'm in Bangor, Maine which is helpfully located right between "You can't get there" and "from here."

It will head your way eventually; we always start in the south because it's warmer in early spring. ;)
