I remember my mate Davey telling me about his old Kawasaki Avenger 350’s tank becoming “live” on one very wet ride in the 1970’s, and zapped him in the balls when he blipped the throttle at a set if lights, like all of us, he’d been kicked in the nuts once or twice, but he said nothing compared to an angry Avenger… ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

My order shipped from USA
https://www.ebay.com/itm/155231948547?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=5tYHHEJBQ9C&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=XgCEg0CPSya&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Be interested to hear your feedback on it when you get it.

I mean it’s pretty simple (magnet and 2 sensors) and compared to some ignitions (boyers come to mind) it seems of a higher quality. My Boyer looks like it was assembled from items at the local hardware store and it was $250 (it did come with a coil though)

The crappiest electronic ignition I’ve ever had was a Prestolite ignition for a CB750, I bought several for only a few bucks from a guy in the US, they worked about as good as they looked and I think I threw them away, from memory. ;D

Looks are deceiving.  I've installed and used many Boyer ignitions in the last 40 years, and have never had one fail.  They are expensive, but they control the advance electronically, and are not dependent on a mechanical advance mechanism.

Electronic advance depends on which ignition you buy, Some use a mechanical advance still. And they fail, not often, but it’s definitely got its faults and failures

To put things in perspective, all EI's are but a switch in the NEG path of the IGN. You can brand your product with a posh Blabla & blabla name, even add the adjective Royal, but that's what they all are: a switch.
Then this: even the design I have used for mine, warns in its original manual that you may have to renew the plugs more frequently as electrodes may erode quicker. I don't know what most of you're after, but as far as spark energy, for our models, a simple transistorized device is plenty. The standard OEM ignition already was. Mike Hailwood won all his races with breakerpoints...
The task of the sparkplug is two-fold:
1. Ignite just that little mixture around its electrodes. The flame front will take it from there.
2. Stay relatively clean so it can continue to perform 1.
That's all to it.

I have got them. Ordered 2.
I have not tried any of them yet.
I also have China coils that look like Dyna 5ohm coil.

The package with the blue exactly as Dyna-S.
I feed it from the relay I have added close to battery. The ignition has an own fuse.

About 5 or so years ago I rolled the dice and purchased a Tytronic EI for my wife's cb350 twin and have been pleasantly surprised by how reliable it's been so I decided to get one for her cb400F. It arrived over the weekend and this time though I wasn't impressed. To put it in a nutshell, the aluminum rotor they sent me that replaces the points lobe was a raw casting (it's not billet). Its magnets were installed but no other machining was done to it and wouldn't fit onto the mech adv. I'm aware that not all mech advances on cb400F's are the same, earlier ones had a smaller shaft that the rotor fits on compared to later 400F's that had a slightly larger dia. I double checked mine before ordering and confirmed mine had the earlier smaller dia. Now I coulda/shoulda contacted the seller and requested a replacement but I'm impatient, and lucky for me I have a lathe and small boring bar so I opened the inside bore of the rotor the .010" it needed but it wouldn't go all the way because the slots on the end that fit over the advance weights weren't finished either so I had to do some careful filing of those slots to take care of that. It's all together and running now and all seems fine, I must admit the built in timing light led's is convenient but the fact that they sent me an unfinished rotor is not cool and I was lucky to have the shop equipment needed to finish it however most of you probably don't. Did my rotor fall through the cracks of their quality control and just an isolated incident or is there more out there? I can't answer that nor can I get Tytronics web site to come up, is it a server issue on their end or are they even in business anymore? Either way how would you be able to contact them for a replacement? With that said, buyer beware.

Yep, I recently bought a Tytronic ignition for my Suzuki T500, same issues, the backing plate was a smidgeon too big and I had to machine it and the rotor to fit. I followed their fitting instructions to the letter, but I couldn’t get a spark out of it, so ripped it out and installed NOS points and condensers and it fired right up. I can’t speak for their other ignitions, but this one was garbage. Not the most money I’ve wasted on aftermarket parts, but annoying just the same. ;D

It's typical for the Chinese vision on doing business: first profit from good reviews, then go cheaper and inferior.

Did a quick search as I did not know they even had a website. Your resurrection of the post got me interested as mine is still going strong after many years. Good thing the inverse situation was not at play in your case, too big a part cannot be made smaller as easily lol. I have a small lathe that has saved my ass on many occasions often extending product life and repairing children's toys, tools, motorcycles etc. Good luck.

1976 Honda 550F - I just bought a Chinese electronic ignition for $57 from ebay. Bike runs great! I rebuilt the last bike 5 years ago and the chinese knock offs were not available, only Dyna for $150.  I will let you know if it fails.
