Thank you for the great idea. It will be nice to eliminate that gas lid key.
My Quik Latch arrived after only a few days. QL-25-S1 Billet Mini Quik-Latch 1 Inch Upper Diameter. $29.
After removing the lock and latch for the Honda key I first screwed in the push button. Looks great and like it was made for the bike and this purpose. (Wondering if it would be wise to use a small gasket between the button and gas lid?)
For the post, I had to get creative. (This is where Cal thinks "oh no" and pulls over to the side of the road to read the post. Don't worry Cal, no cheap HF drills or bits were employed.)
After several failed ideas, I finally arrived at using the old key switch clip, but putting the latch post between the original clip. Then I found two nicely sized hard plastic washers in my extensive and neatly organized parts cabinets (Cal - shhh!). I cut the post down with a saw of some sort. Then I used the two nuts that came with it to sandwich the original key switch latch between the washers. Works great. I need to fine tune a little, but done. Key is the part of the post that needs to be sticking up to clip to the latch, the bottom of it needs to be flush with the top of the Honda key latch clip holder.
